Funkytown's sauna is a handcrafted, timber-fired Finnish sauna right on the shore at Fountainstown, about 20 minutes from Cork city and 10 from Carrigaline. It's run by Funkytown Adventure Centre, with open sea views from inside the sauna and the beach a few steps from the door.

About Funkytown Sauna

When we checked, shared sessions cost €20 an hour or €10 for half an hour, with up to six people. Private hire of the whole sauna was €120 for an hour for up to eight. It opens Friday to Sunday plus Monday evenings, with golden-hour sessions running every day, timed to the tide.

Funkytown also runs hot tub seaweed baths in cherry barrels on the shore beside the sauna, and sells packages that combine the two.

Good to know

  • Book ahead: the sauna is fired before each session, so they need notice. Same-day availability shows in the booking calendar.
  • Bring swimwear, a towel, something warm for afterwards and flip-flops.
  • Swim at your own discretion and never alone.
